Blaxites; Too close to Home

Interesting … scary .. very true. This was my thoughts by the end of the short film Blaxties. There are so many issues and interesting points to take into consideration, that I as a student can personally relate to! But before I get started, I would first like to say that the beautifully directed and simplistic way the film was made gave way to the message (the ones I am interpreting at least.)

I feel like Jade during these current times; as she is watched by her doctor through her social activities, and as I am being watched by my job. My case was not as extreme as Jade’s (she was being denied medical treatment.. that was really messed up to me), but in order for me to be get paid, to pay my bills, living, etc., I have to document every moment I do within the hours I claimed I worked. I feels Jade’s pain in a sense that, in order to get a necessity, we need to give up our rights of privacy.

I was glad you shared in class and here your own situation of more or less acquiesced privacy, that she was not even aware of how the system worked. There might also be a discrepancy between the privacy we think we have and the one we do or do not.

For thinking about a narrative you created a good starting point might be a situation similar to your own, but maybe where some fictional technology is monitoring (or even interpreting) your work. You could consider some articles out there that write about the idea of having a robot / artificial intelligence as a boss, e.g.
